About Susan / Sue Greeff

Susan Greeff is a South African contemporary abstract artist working between Cape Town and Skopelos, Greece. Her paintings move between the body, landscape and abstraction. Working intuitively, she builds and erases layers of colour, gesture and mark-making until familiar forms seem to surface and recede.

The sea, changing light, warmth and the rhythms of the natural world often shape the work. Rather than illustrating a particular place or event, she creates emotional landscapes that leave room for each viewer’s own memories and associations.

Greeff graduated from UCT’s Michaelis School of Fine Art in 2015 with a BA Fine Art and a distinction in painting. She has exhibited in South Africa and abroad, and her work is held in private collections locally and internationally.
